Helen Cho is a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Rhetoric & Communication Studies. Her research examines the role of mass media in producing and disseminating narratives of socio-political difference, and how narratives of difference shape the way people make sense of their place in the world. More specifically, she tries to understand the way people navigate their ascribed and avowed racial and ethnic identities in U.S. and international media contexts. She takes a critical/cultural approach to studying how media production and consumption processes perpetuate racial and ethnic inequality.
