Teaching
Excellence in RHCS teaching begins with our faculty's full immersion in research.
Our rhetoricians work in primary theoretical readings and analysis to develop cutting-edge ideas about rhetoric, power, culture and meaning-making. Our theoretical expertise ranges from antiquity to post-modernity in the western tradition. Our rhetorical-critical expertise ranges from politics, to law, media, history and globalization.
Communication studies faculty, working with traditional qualitative and quantitative social scientific methods, as well as post-modern disruptions of those methods such as critical ethnography and authoethnography, bring a wide-range of research to the classrom. Applied and critical research ranges from the interpersonal sphere of communication to family, group, organizational, cultural and global spheres.
RHCS professors mentor scholarly writing, intellectual conversation, presentation and debate and create and explore interdisciplinary knowledge and practice. Our faculty, immersed in research, bring their studies to the classroom to inform and inspire teaching.
